We stayed one night during the week prior to Labor Day. We had a great time. The mineral pool was sooo relaxing, and the 60’s environment was like a step back in time. The town is quaint and I’d recommend this facility to anyone. Unfortunately the mud baths were booked, so next time!

I was horrified when I arrived in Calistoga, which is a cute, tourist town, to discover that Dr. Wilkinson’s, (the over priced “spa” I was required a two day stay at), was nothing but a bad 1960’s Motel with a cheesy pool, pitiful 1970’s dark wood paneled rooms with a rock hard bed and a noisy air conditioner. I should have known better than to book it on-line even though they didn’t have any pictures of the “resort” on their website. It was hardly my version of a “Spa”. Not only could you could hear everyone on the cement and pebble outdoor stairwell and outdoor railed walkways infront of your hotel room door, the “spa” was really just a family “resort” (I use the word lightly) with sceaming kids running around wearing plastic inner tubes around their waists, doing cannon balls in the rectangular pool. It was as bad as any motel portrayed in the old Chevy Chase “Vacation” movies.
Stay away from this one. It’s a waste of good money and I still feel robbed! I was there in Aug. 2003.

I stayed one night at Dr. Wilkinson’s over the Thanksgiving Weekend. Its been there a long time. The motel itself is nothing special but clean and priced well compared to others in Calistoga. The spa is older but I liked it. Ladies/men have their own spas. I recommend “the works”. First the thick, black, mud bath, then a hot spring soak in a bath tub, then a wrap with a blanket and sweat, then a shower and massage. Lovely. I was very relaxed. On a busy weekend you only get 1/2 hour massages. Right on main drag so can walk to dinner, etc.
