  1. 9/09/2003- About mid-August of 2003, we visited Fale’s ditch, on the East side of US 395, just downstream from the old [closed] hot springs resort. The water was clear and warm, but anyone visiting should be aware of 3 minor hazards:

    1. The ditch is right at the side of the highway. If you’re skinnydipping and not fond of getting caught, it would be good to have a towel or robe handy. You are not really visible to passing cars [except maybe big rigs, which are rare there] but if anyone should pull off to park, you wouldn’t have much time to get covered.

    2. There are small [quarter inch long] worms in the water. These appear to be of the Tubifex variety, and harmless, but some folks may not appreciate the company.

    3. There are ticks in the grassy area around the pond. When my wife picked up her towel, which had been lying in the grass for some time, there were a lot of ticks on it. It might be better to hang your towel on a bush, and in any case, shake it out before using. Lying in the grass is not recommended.

  2. 6/01/2001 – I have done some research and found that there are Fales, Mono, Whitmore and Benton Hot Springs closest to Yosemite.
